FairSplit — Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

FairSplit ("we", "our", "the app") is a mobile application that helps groups of people split expenses fairly. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.

2. Data We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the service:

• Account information: Name, email address, and profile picture (optional). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and avatar from Google.
• Expense data: Amounts, descriptions, categories, dates, and how expenses are split among group members.
• Group data: Group names, members, and invite codes.
• Trip data: Trip names, dates, and associated expenses.
• Settlement data: Payment records between group members.
• Device tokens: Push notification tokens for sending notifications about group activity.

3. How We Use Your Data

• App functionality: To calculate expense splits, show balances, and manage groups.
• Account management: To authenticate you and maintain your account.
• Notifications: To send you updates about expenses, settlements, and group activity.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the FairSplit service.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. Your data is only visible to:

• Other members of groups you belong to (name, email, and shared expense data).

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information.

6. Data Export

You can request a full export of your data at any time through the app: Profile → Privacy & Data → Export My Data.

7. Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data through the app: Profile → Privacy & Data → Delete Account.

When you delete your account, all your data is deleted immediately including your profile, expenses, settlements, trips, notifications, and authentication tokens. No data is retained after deletion.

8. Children's Privacy

FairSplit is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
